One of our first projects at PLC, was for the infill of a windswept undercroft canteen to create an enclosed modern Cafeteria. At the time a further 2 storey expansion above was also planned which finally came to fruition in 2012 in the form of extensions to the Library and Classroom levels and a new tensile canopy covered timber deck outdoor eating area adjoining the Cafeteria.

Operable aluminum louvres were a key element of the design and help combat the solar heat gain from the west whilst still allowing sweeping views of the playing fields and distant ocean. Aesthetically these anodized sun screens to the western façade have been designed in a graduating range of blues and greens that reflect the school colours. A steel framed tensile canopy and timber deck linking directly to the cafeteria provides a spill out undercover space for functions and events.
