Mater Dei College is a six stream, a co-educational Catholic secondary school designed on a green fields site in Perth’s northern suburbs. The brief was to design a secondary school in the classic Catholic tradition, extended to meet educational requirements in the twenty first century. Emphasis was placed on timeless and low maintenance buildings that mellow with age.

 

The cloistered two storey planning is site efficient, with the result that two ovals were achieved on the 8.2 hectare site instead of the one envisaged in the brief, and construction costs have been low. The school has been described as a model secondary school within the Catholic Education system and has developed a strong sense of tradition.
