PMACS Administration Building

Completed 2016

Peter Moyes Anglican Community School is a co-educational, low fee paying K-12 school located in Perth’s northern suburbs. The brief for their new Administration Building (the 9th stage of works to be completed since the school’s commencement) required design of a prominent  formal yet contemporary entrance statement to Elliston Parade whilst ensuring that the composition, aesthetics and material palette remained in keeping with the timeless quality of the existing campus.

The formal composition draws on aspects of the existing campus design but expresses them in new and exciting ways. The asymmetry in the positioning of the precast columns to the entry portico reflects the asymmetrical nature of the floating glass viewing boxes which are orientated to capture strategic views. The largest of these blue green glass boxes projects out from the first floor Staff Room taking advantage of the spectacular ocean views to the North West. From the main entry and reception an open steel and glass stair projects up through a double volume space to the staff room and terrace on the first floor.

An important element of the design brief was to create a large Staff Room with Servery facilities that could be used for staff training sessions, and even host larger functions for the wider school community, including wedding receptions for past students.

The building itself has provided much needed space for the Peter Moyes School Staff as well as freeing up space for current and future students.
